Marching Band

The West Potomac High School Marching Band Program is a vibrant and dynamic ensemble that brings together talented musicians and performers from all grade levels. Led by the dedicated and experienced Band Director, Mr. Joe Antonucci, the program offers a comprehensive musical and performance education to its members. Additional band staff lead sections, work with the color guard, and work on the overall program.
The Marching Wolverines consist of Winds, Percussion, and Color Guard. The Color Guard enhances the visual aspect of the performances, using flags, rifles, and dance to complement the music. Together with the musicians, the Color Guard creates stunning and synchronized routines that elevate the overall performance.
The Marching Wolverines entertain audiences at various events, including football games and competitions. Through a rigorous rehearsal schedule (primarily the month before school begins and during the fall) and a commitment to excellence, the members of the Marching Band build strong teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills. The band participates in an official marching band assessment in the fall. Scores (ratings) are given – I (Superior), II (Excellent), III (Good) IV (Fair), and V (Poor) – with I rating being the highest rating.
The West Potomac High School Marching Band Program encourages students to pursue their passion for music, performance, and teamwork. Whether you play an instrument or excel in dance, the program welcomes students of all skill levels and provides opportunities for growth and development. Being a member of the Marching Band is an excellent way to make lifelong friends, create unforgettable memories, and be a part of a close-knit and supportive community.
