Jazz Band

The West Potomac Jazz band rehearses after school starting at the conclusion of the marching band season. There are two jazz bands and it is designated as a class which will appear on your student’s schedule. They can earn a letter grade or take as Pass/Fail. Students need to request Jazz Band as part of their course selection the year before. This group performs several times throughout the year including in small ensemble concerts. These bands are lead by Joe Antonucci and Emma Pivetta.

Students have the opportunity to develop their skills in swing, blues, Latin, and fusion genres, cultivating a deep understanding of the history and evolution of jazz. The jazz band encourages collaboration and fosters a supportive environment where students can take risks and explore new musical idea, including learning a new instrument.
