Concert Band

The concert band program at West Potomac High School offers a comprehensive musical education to students of all skill levels. Under the direction of Mr. Joe Antonucci, students learn to develop musical skills on their specific instruments as well as how to play in an ensemble.

Currently there are three concert bands at West Potomac High School. Students are assigned to an ensemble based on skill level and experience. The concert bands have several performances throughout the year including band concerts, outreach to pyramid elementary schools and Carl Sandburg, pyramid concerts, outreach events to local preschools, and support to school-wide events including graduation. There is an official assessment (equivalent to a band SOL test) held in the spring, where the bands perform for judges. They also sight read music and then perform it. Scores (ratings) will be given – I (Superior), II (Excellent), III (Good) IV (Fair), and V (Poor) – with I rating being the highest rating.

The West Potomac High School concert band program welcomes students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced musicians. Whether they are passionate about playing a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument, the program offers a supportive and enriching environment to develop your students’ musical skills. By joining the concert band, you become part of a close-knit community that celebrates the power of music and the joy of sharing it with others.
