Fundraising
How Band Parents FUNDRAISE for the West Potomac HS Band.
The West Potomac Band Patrons Organization, a 501(c)(3), is the fundraising arm of the band. Each year we raise funds to support the overall band and guard programs above and beyond what the school or student fees provide. We need volunteers to ensure the success of our fundraising efforts. Find something that interests you…visit the Volunteer section to sign up to lend support.
Football Concessions (September-November)
Band parents staff the main concession stand at all Varsity, JV, and Freshmen home games. Band students also can volunteer at JV/Freshmen games. We need 15 adult volunteers each shift at varsity games and 5 volunteers each shift at the Freshman/JV games. A member of each band family should plan to volunteer for 3 shifts in the concession stand during the fall season.
Performing Arts Department TAG DAY (September 9, 2023)
West Potomac Performing Arts Department students–band, chorus, and orchestra–canvas the West Potomac Community asking for monetary donations. In addition to going door-to-door, several small ensembles perform in local areas while asking for donations to the program. Parents volunteers are needed to drive student groups to community areas, to staff the registration desk, and to count donations at the end of the day.
Car Wash (several times throughout the year)
Bring your cars, your neighbors’ cars, and your friends’ cars for a great wash. Students do the work and parents supervise and donate food and drink.
Band Spirit Wear (Preview Show/Online Store)
The band program has an online store to purchase spirit wear. The store is open in two-week increments several times during the school year. Sweatshirts, tshirts, hats, and pajama pants with the West Potomac Band logo are available in the online store.
In addition, the Band program sells logo magnets at the preview show in August and throughout the year at concerts.
Restaurant Nights (several times throughout the year)
Don’t like to cook? Want to support the band programs? We have the fundraiser for you! Several times throughout the year the Boosters partner with local restaurants. You buy a meal at the restaurant and the restaurant shares the profits with the Boosters. Win-Win!
Cutting Scholarship Fund–March Madness Concert
Each year in March our band students partner with local music teachers and alumni to perform a concert of famous marches with guest conductors from the community. At the end of the evening the Boosters auction a chance to conduct the massed band playing Stars and Stripes. All funds raised during this event support the Cutting Scholarship Fund; a fund created in the memory of a former student that supports scholarships for private music instruction.
